Korean Women : The Culture of Korean Teenager’s Plastic Surgery

Plastic surgery is usually a personal decision as a reflection of improving confident needs and self-image. For South Korean teenage girls, this is not only “a desire to be better looking person”. Plastic surgery was already an obsession. Unsurprisingly, around 76% Korean women at the age of 20 – 30 years old did plastic surgery. Even though in following five years, plastic surgery was a personal thing, for some people that’s like a shameful action. Several opinions in world society said that teenage girls who did the plastic surgery were similar to be a monster with super beautiful body outside. On the other hand, some people said that was not a big deal.
Based on south Korean teenage girl’s opinion, the main reason to decide the plastic surgery is for changing their slanting eyes. Having the big eyes is a dream for them. It could be done by plastic surgery for approximately 8 million rupiah by making additional eyelid. For example, if a girl was 14 years old, she is allowed to do the plastic surgery as known as “eye job”, even it used to be a gift from parents. That’s why several clinic for plastic surgery will be busy, especially at school holiday. The most popular plastic surgery is for the eyelid, nevertheless nose operation is also important for them. From the author’s opinion, the parents ask their children to do the plastic surgeon as well as to make homework. They aware that appearance is one of keys factor to achieve successful life.
The ridiculous aspect of the Korean culture is the opinion about changing the physically appearance. One side, the Korean has a slogan about high nationalism. Another side, some Korean are not satisfied about their appearance. I admire Korean love and proud their personal character, but why they eager to do the plastic surgery. From the author’s opinion, they should have been proud of original face of Korean as well as their identity as a Korean.
When this new culture was established, I try to compare it with Indonesia. Beside the economic aspect, Indonesia people seldom do the plastic surgery as they are accept the appearance as a gift from God. This Indonesian’s concept grew up as people have obligation to embrace the religion. From my point of view, religion becomes a filter when people made decision to do something. Whether the action is good or useful for themselves and others people? Changing the body part seems to be the hardest thing and opposite to god’s gift.
Besides, the tough competition among Korean people to be successful (worldly) is one of reason to do plastic surgery. Someone whose the standard appearance is not easy to be accepted at work for instance. The appearance would be the important factor in working atmosphere, especially entertainment industry. The Korean actress like to change their body appearance to be perfect or success than others. Also, it is important to get attention from fans to follow them as idols.
The booming of plastic surgery in Korea is a new unique culture. However Korean government reaction which hasn’t given serious attention indicates that this phenomenon isn’t a threatening change . Cuture change is a common thing happens in our life. Nothing can stop this. As it happens along with epoch demand which continually urges human being to accomplish it. However the choice depends to each individual, whether to accomplish it or not.

"Hmm..So Guys, What do u think about Korea Plastic Surgery??*.*"
